Whale hunting

Largeish (well they don't look it from here but they do move kind of slowly) and inclined not to show enough of himself to be of use to me 100 yds away with my weapon and one eye closed as I anticipate the perfect shot. I've got to get the head or no one is going to believe me when I say it got away.
It seems to be keen on flipping over onto its back and showing off flippers and tail like a circus trained dolphin, but that isn't good enough as I've already explained. I hope you understand my problem: you see if I don't get the head or better still, the eye, then it will probably just swim away and feel hurt for a while.
He's coming in closer now, really close and I line up for the perfect shot ....
and *click* .. whirrr
That should be a lovely one. Almost like he was smiling at me. I could blow it up and put it on my wall.
