Julie Myers: Biography

Since 1993 Julie Myers has worked extensively with digital media including single screen projection, gallery based installation, publicly sited work and various on-line projects.

The work she produces is often derived from some sort of participatory process. Participants might be on-line users, local groups, fellow artists or even the audience itself. Her process may develop over a sustained period of time or be just a brief moment captured between strangers.

Sometimes material is assembled to form new narratives as in the digital films Julie's Weekend (01) and Love and Adventure (03). At other times it is produced to exist alongside the real world as in Hearsay (99) an audio tour of memories installed at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London.

Often using interactive technologies to present the viewer with multiple experiences. Julie's latest film Elsewhere In Between presents a series of cross-connecting narratives shot by people living in different parts of the world.

Julie has exhibited and screened work extensively receiving a number of awards including an AHRB research award and an Erasmus Scholarship. Previous work has been commissioned by The Arts Council of England, NETSA, The Institute of Contemporary Art, South East Arts , DA2, BAA and the National Portrait Gallery.

Julie works as a part time Lecturer in Fine Art at Middlesex University.
